An insensitive organisation - thats Quark for you!

This week's biggest news here in the Indian IT industry was the firing of approx. 150 employees by the wretched company - QUARK Media, chandigarh !.

Last year we all classmates were very happy for all the guys who got into it from our class...and furthur to that, many of our juniors also got training-cum-jod assurance there. Alas our joy was shortly-lived. This week most of our mates are on the brink of being fired , even as our juniors were asked to look for job elsewhere after their training.

This is very unprofessional - keeping in mind the fact that the IT industry here was never better before ( discounting the Internet bubble). The word which has come out of there is that since the company is the propery of a sole person, his wishes far outweigh the well-being of the employee who work for him.It is heard that his main forte is real-estate and NOT software...he is running Quark just for the heck of it. So he's a kind of dictator unlike most of the IT orgs where the stake of the shareholders and employees matters.

It is being said that he foxed the local state government there (the Punjab Govt.) into selling land to him on cheap rates in lieu of offering large-scale IT employment to local acedamia.After his purpose was over, he has started firing people !

Today I thank God for the day I was rejected in the HR round for that company. If a person moves on to another company on his own, he is comfortable with the change...but this development has brought a quake in the settled lives of employees of Quark. Now people will have to come back to Delhi, Bangalore n other regions to other companies.
The worst affected would be those who are settled in Chandigarh...they'll have to move to a new place.The whole struggle of re-settling again.What a shame on the part of the company who cannot honour its commitments - who talked lofty things when it comes for recruitment.

Thank GOD for saving me from such a bad organisation !
